Stalefish

Stalefish got involved in electronic music since 1995, inspired by the raves in the South of France.
He gets his first machines in 1996 and produces his first tracks.
His different musical influences like Hip Hop, Reggae, Electro even some Punk-Rock guided him naturally toward the Jungle Music, a good mixture of all these elements.

So in 97' he starts playing Jungle / D&B and despite the fact the vibe at the time was more Tech-Step like, he preferred the good sound of the Old School Jungle or Ragga Jungle. He spreads that sound in Toulon's area (near Marseille) and improves his DJ technique in private parties and outdoor festivals.

In 2001, Stalefish meets MC Metod, 2D and Smeen San. Then they founded the Step Express Crew while they were organising the so called gigs.

The crew also runs the radio show 'Dragon Step', on an associative radio in Toulon called 'Radio Active, every Thursday from 22.30PM to midnight. The show is dedicated to the Breakbeat culture including Jungle / D&B.

From 2001 to '03, he also plays keyboard and computer in a Ska band (Chewbaska). In 2002, they play alongside Asian Dub Foundation and Alpha Blondi at the 'Festival Du Phare'. At this very special occasion, Stalefish will make a D&B live performance and will keep playing in the after party.

In '03, he decides with his mates to found the label, Step Express Recordings, first Jungle / D&B label in Toulon. He signs 3 maxi vinyls. The fifth release forthcoming in 2006.

Until '05, Stalefish will play in various events at the Zenith de Toulon with the crew.

In '05, he also sings a new record on the Parisian label Oxygen Records featuring Metod MC, very first track with French vocals on it.

His tracks are regularly caned by DJ Sappo on 1 Xtra – BBC, one of the best UK D&B radio show. His tracks are in Nicky Blackmarket, DJ SS and Laurent Garnier playlists as well.

Stalefish mostly appear on stage with Metod MC, his Jump Up & Rollin mixes with a Funk & Reggae vibe, composed of his own productions and dubplates are totally efficient to rinse out the dancefloor.
